MEDICAL EXAMINING BOARD
FRIDAY, September 8, 2017

A Meeting of the Medical Examining Board was held on Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Office of the State Comptroller, 55 Elm Street, Room 208, Hartford, Connecticut, 06106.

PRESENT:

Please note that a portion of the meeting was conducted in executive session as the focus of the meeting was the medical condition(s) of each Disability Retirement applicant.

CALL TO ORDER

The Chairperson called meeting to order at 9:10 am.
Dr. Rudich motioned to amend the agenda, seconded by Dr. Lieders at 9:11 am.
Amended to the agenda:

Dr. Rudich motioned to go into the Executive Session to discuss medical condition(s) related to the applications for Disability Retirement, seconded by Dr. Lieders at 9:13 am. Members of the Retirement Services Division and the General Counsel to the Commission were invited to stay during Executive Session. There was a brief break from 10:57 am. until 11:11 am.

1. Patty Burgio, spouse of David Burgio, appeared before the Board and made a statement at 11:16 am. She was excused by the Board at 11:19 am.
2. Daniel Flores, Jr. appeared before the Board at 11:20 am. He made a statement and was excused by the Board at 11:21 am.
3. Tanya Mack appeared before the Board and made a statement at 11:22 am. She was excused by the Board at 11:25 am.
4. Hasson Stavis appeared before the Board and made a statement at 11:26 am. He was excused by the Board at 11:34 am.
5. Esther Vega-Espanol and Attorney Ralph Wilson Jr. appeared before the Board. Ms. Vega-Espanol made a statement at 11:36 am. They were excused by the Board at 11:40 am.
6. Earl Wilson appeared before the Board and made a statement at 11:42 am. He was excused by the Board at 11:44 am.

Dr. Blum motioned to come out of Executive Session, seconded by Dr. Lieders at 11:49 a.m.

Dr. Rudich moved, seconded by Dr. Lieders, to continue the disability retirement of Mark Basta. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Rudich moved, seconded by Dr. Lieders, to continue the disability retirement of Danny Brown. Motion approved unanimously.
