MEDICAL EXAMINING BOARD
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2018

A Meeting of the Medical Examining Board was held on Friday, November, 2018, at the Office of the State Comptroller, 55 Elm Street, Room 208, Hartford, Connecticut, 06106.

Please note that a portion of the meeting was conducted in executive session as the focus of the meeting was the medical condition(s) of each Disability Retirement applicant. 

CALL TO ORDER  

The Chairperson called meeting to order at 9:18 am. 

Dr. Lieders motioned to go into the Executive Session to discuss medical condition(s) related to the applications for Disability Retirement, seconded by Dr. Rudich at 9:19 am.  Members of the Retirement Services Division and the General Counsel to the Commission were invited to stay during Executive Session.  Dr. Lieders left the meeting at 11:37 am and returned at 11:44 am.  There was a brief break at 11:37 am until 11:44 am.  Dr. Lieders left the meeting at 12:49 pm and returned at 12:51 pm.  

  

1.  Tammis Craig and Attorney Justin Raymond appeared before the Board at 11:46 am.  Attorney Raymond made a statement and then, they were excused by the Board at 11:47 am.

2.  Kyle Dunn appeared before the Board at 11:49 am.  He made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 11:57 am.

3.  Deborah Eason and Attorney Justin Raymond appeared before the Board at 12:04 pm.  Attorney Raymond made a statement and then, they were excused by the Board at 12:06 pm.

4.  Gustavo Garcia and and wife Nina Bantham appeared before the Board at 12:11pm.  Ms. Bantham translated for Mr. Garcia and then, they were excused by the Board at 12:17pm.

5.  Michael Holt appeared before the Board at 12:18 pm.  He made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 12:26 pm.

6.  Ronald Kneeland and Christine Golet appeared before the Board at 12:31 pm.  They made statements and then, they were excused by the Board at 12:36 pm.

7.  Ervin Martinez, on behalf of, his wife, Nancy Martinez (deceased) appeared before the Board at 12:38 pm.  He made a statement and then, was excused by the Board at 12:39 pm.

8.  Pam-Eve Nicholson and Attorney Brennen Maki appeared before the Board at 12:42 pm.  Attorney Maki made a statement and then, they were excused by the Board at 12:44 pm.

9.  Angel Ortiz and Attorney Bruce Bergman appeared before the Board at 12:45 pm.  Attorney Bergman made a statement and then, they were excused by the Board at 12:48 pm.

10.  Norma Picard and Attorney Ralph Wilson appeared before the Board at 12:49 pm.  Attorney Wilson made statement and then, they were excused by the Board at 12:50 pm.

11.  ;Thomas Przybylowicz appeared before the Board at 12:52 pm.  He made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 12:59 pm.

12.   Robert Thomas appeared before the Board at 1:00 pm.  He made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 1:02 pm.

13.   Helen Wilson and her brother Don Wilson appeared before the Board at 1:04 pm.   She made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 1:10 pm.

14.   Darcie Dockum appeared before the Board at 1:14 pm.  She made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 1:16 pm. 

 

Dr. Lieders motioned to come out of Executive Session, seconded by Dr. Rudich at 1:20 p.m.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Rudich, to deny Sandra Allen's entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement.  Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Rudich, to deny Joseph Corbin's entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement.  Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Rudich, to approve Tammis Craig's entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement.  Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Rudich, to deny Darcie Dockum�s entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement, however the Board would look favorably upon Non-Service Connected.  Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Rudich, to approve Kyle Dunn�s entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement.  Motion approved unanimously.
