FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2019

A Meeting of the Medical Examining Board was held on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the Office of the State Comptroller, 55 Elm Street, Room 208, Hartford, Connecticut, 06106.

PRESENT:

Please note that a portion of the meeting was conducted in executive session as the focus of the meeting was the medical condition(s) of each Disability Retirement applicant.

CALL TO ORDER

The Chairperson called meeting to order at 9:05 am.

Dr. Lieders motioned to go into the Executive Session to discuss medical condition(s) related to the applications for Disability Retirement, seconded by Dr. Rudich at 9:06 am. Members of the Retirement Services Division and the General Counsel to the Commission were invited to stay during Executive Session. There was a brief break at 11:23 am until 11:36 am. Dr. Blum left the meeting at 1:03 pm and returned at 1:06 pm.

Edward Almonte and Attorney Eric Brown appeared before the Board at 11:39 am. Attorney Brown made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 11:41 am.
William Benjamin appeared before the Board at 11:42 am. He made a statement, and then was excused by the Board at 11:49 am.
Loni Brockett and her son, Zigmund Ozea appeared before the Board at 11:50 am. Ms. Brockett made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 11:57 am.
Christopher Clark and his wife Kate Clark appeared before the Board at 11:59 am. Mr. Clark made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 12:01 pm.
Dolores Corey and Attorney Russell Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 12:02 pm. They made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 12:09 pm.
On behalf of Kenneth Doyle (Deceased) JoAnn, James and Pamela Doyle appeared before the Board, at 12:11 pm. JoAnn and James Doyle made statements and then, they were excused by the Board at 12:16 pm.
Diane Fraiter and Loretta Rivera appeared before the Board at 12:19 pm. Ms. Fraiter made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 12:21 pm.
Aida Gonzalez and Miriam Ray, her interpreter, appeared before the Board at 12:22 pm. They made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 12:23 pm.
Jason Karkevich and Attorney Winona Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 12:24 pm. They made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 12:39 pm.
Glenn Miller, Sr. and Attorney Russell Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 12:54 pm. They made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 1:00 pm.
Gina Valente appeared before the Board at 1:15 pm. She made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 1:22 pm.
Carolyn Vandemark, Tony Vandemark and Attorney Nakul Havnurkar appeared before the Board at 1:26 pm. Ms. Vandemark and Attorney Havnurkar made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 1:28 pm.
Caroland Wiggs-Lewis appeared before the Board at 1:29 pm. She made a statement and was excused by the Board at 1:30 pm.
Debra Wilson and Bryon Wilson appeared before the Board at 1:31pm. She made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 1:34 pm.

Dr. Lieders motioned to come out of Executive Session, seconded by Dr. Blum 1:37 p.m.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Blum, to approve Olu-Segun Adebambo�s entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Blum, to approve Edward Almonte�s entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.
