MEMORANDUM NO. 97-24

May 14, 1997

TO THE HEADS OF ALL STATE AGENCIES

ATTENTION:Personnel and Payroll Officers
SUBJECT: 1997 Health Insurance Fairs

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information relative to the health insurance open enrollment fairs, which have been scheduled for the open enrollment period occurring between May 15 and June 3 for coverage effective July 1, 1997.

The fair schedule has been arranged to reach as many employees as possible; the statewide schedule is attached. Please share the schedule with your employees so that they may make plans accordingly.

As in previous years, representatives from all the health insurance vendors (Blue Cross, M.D. Health Plan, Kaiser Permanente and CIGNA Dental) will attend the fairs and be available to disseminate information and answer questions regarding the specific benefits of the plans. Employees should also be encouraged to refer to the health care planner they were sent for important rate and benefit comparison information. Employees, however, who desire to change, add or delete health insurance coverage must obtain the necessary forms from their agency personnel/payroll office.

Agency inquires pertaining to the health insurance fairs may be directed to the Comptroller's Retirement and Benefit Services Division, Health Care Analysis Unit at (860) 702-3535.

Very truly yours,

Nancy Wyman
State Comptroller
