MEMORANDUM NO. 2010-18
June 11, 2010
TO THE HEADS OF ALL STATE AGENCIES
|Attention:||Chief Administrative and Fiscal Officers, Business Managers, and Payroll and Personnel Officers|
|Subject:||Increase in Dues/Fees, CSEA Bargaining Units|
In accordance with the request of the Connecticut State Employees Association, SEIU Local 2001, the following dues/fees increase will be implemented effective with the pay period June 4, 2010 through June 17, 2010 (check date July 2, 2010).
|Bargaining Unit||Deduction Code|
|Supervising Judicial Marshals||UD2001|
|Supervising Judicial Marshals||UF2001|
II. CALCULATION METHOD
Union dues and agency fees for all state employee bargaining units represented by CSEA SEIU Local 2001 are a percentage of base pay (overtime excluded and premium pay excluded) with a biweekly minimum and biweekly maximum as follows:
|% of base pay as dues||minimum biweekly dues/fees||maximum biweekly dues/fees|
Example 1: State employee earns a base annual salary of $55,000. One percent (1%) of $55,000 is $550 annually. $550 divided by 26 pay periods is $21.15. In this case, since $21.15 biweekly is below the minimum, this employee would pay the minimum $23.00 dues biweekly.
Example 2: State employee earns a base annual salary of $70,000. One percent (1%) of $70,000 is $700 annually. $700 divided by 26 pay periods is $26.92. In this case, the employee would pay $26.92, which is one percent (1%) of their biweekly base earnings. By this methodology, employees would pay one percent (1%) of earnings between $23.00 and $32.00.
Example 3: State employee earns a base annual salary of $85,000. One percent
(1%) of $85,000 is $850 annually. $850 divided by 26 pay periods is $32.69. In
this case, since $32.69 is above the maximum, this employee would pay the
maximum $32.00 dues biweekly.
