Subject: Conversion to PeopleSoft

In an effort to ease the transition from the MSA Payroll System to PeopleSoft, Payroll Services has created two new fields in MSA. These new fields are located on the 160 screen (under the address field) and are identified as Full Time Position Y/N and Primary Position Y/N. By selecting "N" (No) for the Full Time Position you are indicating that the employee holds a part time position in your agency. By selecting "N" (No) for the Primary Position you would be indicating that the employee holds a primary position in another agency, and a secondary position in your agency.

For Remote Job Entry (RJE) agencies, the positions on the NA/RA transaction are identified as follows:

Positions 1-2 Positions 3-4 Positions 5-6 Positions 7-16 Position 79 Position 80
Enter NA (for new employee)
RA (for existing employee)
CT (Level 1) Payroll Unit (Level 2) Employee Number Enter Y for Full Time Position or N for Part Time Position Enter Y for Primary Job or N if Job is not Primary
* Please note this transaction can be sent by itself or included with regular NA/RA maintenance

Position 79 is the Full Time Position Y/N Indicator and
Position 80 is the Primary Position Y/N Indicator

We recognize that RJE agencies have not been provided with any lead-time to accommodate this programming change, and suggest that your payroll offices do have on-line access to the MSA Payroll System to provide this information as an alternative solution. We regret any inconvenience this may cause your agency.

Effective with any new hire after January 23, 2003, the two aforementioned fields will be mandatory when completing screen 160.

All agencies are asked to provide this information for existing employees in a timely manner, in order to facilitate the transition to PeopleSoft.

Agencies are also asked to ensure that the data in MSA for their employees is as accurate as possible, particularly verifying and correcting Names and Addresses as necessary.

Questions should be referred to your Payroll Auditor.

RJE agencies should contact the Payroll Services Division at (860) 702-3458 with questions regarding the NA/RA transaction.
