This is a table showing Connecticut's population in 1990 and 1997, broken out by racial category. In 1990, there were an estimated 2 million 946 thousand 216 Whites, 282 thousand 103 Blacks, 6 thousand 990 American Indians, 51 thousand 807 Asian and Pacific Islanders, and 213 thousand 116 Hispanics. In 1997, there were an estimated 2 million 885 thousand 863 Whites, 299 thousand 760 Blacks, 7 thousand 940 American Indians, 76 thousand 295 Asian and Pacific Islanders, and 259 thousand 159 Hispanics.
