The meeting began at 1:15 p.m.
The Subcommittee discussed the following claims that had been administratively denied by the Retirement Services Division. All of the recommendations were unanimous.
Stephen Chapin #340781 - Request received from Stephen Chapin that if he were to retire from state service, that his current method of payment through payroll deduction for his purchase of prior military service be continued through his monthly retirement benefit from SERS and that the retirement credit for this purchase be included in the calculation of his benefit before completion of payments.
Action: Ms. Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of Mr. Chapin's request that the payroll deduction method be continued while he is in retirement payment status and that he receive retirement credit for a purchase that has not been completed.
Juan Antonio DeJesus #433724 - Request received from Mr. DeJesus that he be allowed to withdraw his retirement contributions as a vested terminated Tier IIA member of SERS.
Action: Ms.Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. McLellan to recommend denial of Mr. DeJesus' request to withdraw his retirement contributions as a vested rights member of SERS Tier IIA.
Ronald Harris (Retiree) #257818 - Request received from Ronald Harris that he be allowed to purchase retirement credit in Tier I for his prior contractual service from July 1, 1976 to June 16, 1977.
Action: Ms. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. McLellan to recommend acceptance of Mr. Harris' request to purchase retirement credit for his prior contractual service from July 1, 1976 to June 16, 1977.
John Hylton (Deceased) #612328- Following Mr. Hylton's death, a posthumous retirement application for a non-service connected disability was received by the Retirement Services Division for processing.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Ms. Yelmini to recommend denial of the request for the processing of a posthumous non-service connected disability retirement for Mr. Hylton.
Andrew Palladino (Retiree) #151530- Request received from Mr. Palladino, a vested retiree that he receive retirement benefit payments retroactive to 2008 when he had reached his sixty-fifth birthday.
Action: Ms. Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. McLellan to recommend denial of Mr. Palladino's request for retirement benefit payments retroactive to 2008.
