State of Connecticut Employee and Retiree Medical Plans
The Office of the State Comptroller has released the State of Connecticut Request for Proposals (RFP) for medical benefits for an effective date of July 1, 2010. The due date for the proposals is December 18, 2009 (no later than 2:00 p.m.) Letters of intent to bid are due November 17, 2009, and questions from bidders are due November 20, 2009.
The RFP asks for self-insured proposals for medical benefits only. The prescription drug and dental benefits are not out to bid at this time. The need to request self-insured proposals comes from recent legislative budget cuts.
The RFP requires that bidding companies complete a re-pricing exercise based upon the State's actual claims experience.
A copy of the RFP and supporting data can be obtained from the State’s healthcare consultant: Steve.may@milliman.com .
The State of Connecticut reserves the right to negate the RFP process at
any time.
