The State of Connecticut is pleased to make the following voluntary Group Life Insurance Plan available to eligible employees. This booklet describes the provisions and benefits of the plan, as well as the eligibility requirements for State employees and retirees.
Section 5-257 of Connecticut General Statutes entitles all eligible State employees to an amount of Group Life Insurance based upon his or her gross yearly compensation. The cost to employees of the voluntary insurance plan described in this booklet is $.20 biweekly for each $1,000 of coverage. This amount is deducted from participating employees' paychecks on a biweekly basis. The State of Connecticut pays the balance of the cost.
