Clarification Memo for Payroll and Human Resource Personnel

The Office of the State Comptroller, Healthcare Policy & Benefit Services Division has awarded the contract for the on-site flu vaccination clinics to both The Danbury VNA and our current pharmacy benefit manager CVS Caremark. Agencies are required to use one of these vendors to administer their on-site flu clinics. Contact information for each vendor is:

Employees, dependents, and retirees enrolled in the State of Connecticut health plans have three ways to receive flu shots:

1) On-site clinics

- Danbury VNA - provide Anthem or Oxford medical insurance card

- CVS/Caremark - provide Caremark ID Card

2) CVS or other local pharmacies in the flu vaccination clinic network

3) From their doctor or other health professional

Clarification regarding the administration of the flu vaccination program:

1) The on-site flu vaccinations clinics are for members enrolled in the State of Connecticut health plans. The vendors will not be able to accept other insurance or cash payments for the flu shots at the on-site clinics.

 

2) The flu voucher program will no longer be necessary; members can use their current Caremark ID card at any of the flu shot vaccination participating pharmacies. For a complete list of participating pharmacies, visit www.osc.ct.gov  or www.caremark.com. 

 

3) Connecticut pharmacists are unable to vaccinate anyone under eighteen years of age. Dependents under eighteen years of age should use the Minute Clinic at CVS or have the flu vaccination administered from their doctor.
