ABOUT THE BOARD:

The Connecticut Retirement Security Board (CRSB) was created through Public Act 14-217 to address the growing retirement crisis in Connecticut and, after completion of its work, it was disbanded July 1, 2016 through Public Act 16-29.

From 2014 to 2016, the CRSB conducted a market feasibility study on a public retirement program for private sector employees currently without access to an employer-sponsored savings plan that was released on January 1, 2016 and an implementation plan for such a program that was released before its April 1, 2016 deadline. Both of these documents can be found in the sidebars on this website, in addition to all of the Board’s meeting materials and completed Requests for Proposals.

The CRSB is disbanded and will no longer be meeting. However, Public Act 16-29 created the Connecticut Retirement Security Authority (CRSA), which is responsible for implementing the studied program and whose Board members will be appointed and convened by January 1, 2017. Until then, please direct all inquiries on either the CRSB or the CRSA to the Connecticut Retirement Security Board’s former staffer, Genevieve Ballinger, at genevieve.ballinger@ct.gov.
